When I went sober, there were things that immediately came to mind that I could finally be free from. No more mornings where I woke up unsure of how I got to bed or what I did the night before; no insane charges on my credit card of things I would never have purchased. I definitely didn’t miss any of that happening when I went sober, but there were unexpected things that happened that maybe aren’t so obvious.

Maybe you don’t drink enough to notice these benefits when you have breaks but for me, it was a complete 180. Here are some things that I noticed were very different after I had been sober for a few months.

No more red face

I bought anything and everything that I could put on my face that would clear the redness that I had but I was just covering up a problem. Sure, I have some redness now, but compared to when I was drinking heavily, it’s not nearly as bad.

The cosmetics I’m putting on my face actually work now versus just making my slightly less red. So if you’re drinking every day and you’re noticing that you do have a lot of redness in your face, cutting back could make all of the difference.
