It was honestly surprising

The title would be more appropriate to say, “3 things I noticed after going sober this time” as things have definitely changed this go around. When I first went sober about 4 years ago, I spent so much time focused on just myself that I didn’t notice any of my surroundings and this time, I’m more observant. What did I notice? There’s been a change in communities with how they view drinking and for this sober girl, it’s been a life saver.

With how much things have changed, there were three things that caught my attention the most.

People don’t drink as much as they used to

It could very well be my age but I’ve noticed that when I quit, I realized how little everyone around me had been drinking already. Sure, they did drink still, but they would have one drink and then call it. That was something I never would have noticed before as I usually pre-gamed and drank before going out anywhere. I didn’t want anyone to notice how much I was drinking and I was so focused on that, I didn’t realize how little everyone else was consuming. A part of me knew that they weren’t drinking as much as I was, hence the pre-gaming, but it was significantly less than I had originally assumed.
