Are you still sober if you smoke weed?
The answer can be different per person. For me? Yes.
I recently saw a post on instagram(since then been deleted) where Miley Cyrus talks about sobriety and how she hasn’t had a drink in 4 months. In another post that referenced it, that person had posted that statement because she was proud of Miley. That she had gone 4 months in sobriety is such a great feat for a girl who sang songs about molly and partying before.
But almost all the comments said she wasn’t actually sober because she still smoked weed.
Comment after comment where people would explain that sobriety meant abstaining from everything. Some even say you can’t even take medications like Prozac or drink coffee if you want to be truly sober.
I had only associated the term “sober” with alcohol so I started researching what sobriety means and if there really are catch all statements about all drugs, good or bad, that you put in your system keeping you from true sobriety. A post from soberish.co sums up the two main groups of sober people pretty well:
