How to maintain your sobriety through the holidays

Not drinking during the most stressful time of year.

If there’s any time of year that people deem as a justifiable reason for drinking, it’s the holidays. Family members are getting together that normally don’t see one another and definitely don’t like each other. Kids are running around and ruining your newly mopped floors. And did you forget to check on the turkey? Is the gravy supposed to look like that?

That’s not even the worst part. People are drinking and they’re usually drinking hard. And if it’s family, it’s even harder.

This is my first sober holiday since I stopped drinking in June of 2019 but I’ve had pretty good luck so far with not drinking. I say luck but I could not have gotten this far if I didn’t make plans and then backup plans for those. Regardless if you’re the host or hosted, here’s some tips to keep your sobriety or just cut back on alcohol.

You’re a host

I feel you on this one mainly because I’m also a host. With the hustling around you’ll have to be doing, how do you resist that glass of wine someone tries to hand you while you’re cooking?
