I’m Not Meant For This World

A poem

Photo by Zach Reiner on Unsplash

Is it wrong to resonate with plants
to reach out for the sun
roots digging into the earth?

That animals
so innocent, their needs
pull at the strings in my heart

Instead of people
who have flesh and bones
with minds like ice?

You thought isolation would break me
that it would rip my spirit apart
but I can finally breathe

With the weight off my chest
I reach into the earth
and let myself sink

The pressure is gone
and I’m finally

Free
